Description:
Small annual herb, 3-13 cm with all parts more or less covered in glandular hairs. Leaves linear, up to 3-12 cm long and 1-2.5 mm wide, glandular hairy. Flowers with long, linear-lanceolate sepals, up to 19 mm, pointed, glandular hairy. Petals shorter than sepals, yellow, oblanceolate-oblong. Fruit a grey-brown oblong capsule, dehiscent.
Notes: First recorded from the Chiturapudzi area in Chipise Communal Land near Beitbridge, which is the type locality and the only known locality in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately this wetland area of Cretaceous sandstone seepage has been badly degraded and the species appears to be no longer present. In 1997, the species was found near Moabase on the Mozambique coast, more than 1000 km away from the first record.
Derivation of specific name: drummondii: named after R. B. 'Bob' Drummond (1924-2008 ), former Keeper of the National Herbarium in Harare (SRGH), who collected the type specimen.
