Description: |
Small to medium-sized unarmed tree. Bark grey to blackish, peeling in older specimens; branchlets pale with lenticels. Leaves, elliptic to ovate-elliptic, 5-12 cm long, leathery, glabrous, dark green on both surfaces; margin entire or obscurely dentate with widely spaced teeth. Flowers axillary, solitary or in few-flowered clusters, small, greenish-white. Fruit subspherical, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, sharply tipped, fleshy, yellow when ripe. |

Derivation of specific name: | stolzii: after Adolf Ferdinand Stolz (1871-1917), German missionary, merchant and plant collector in Angola and Malawi, particularly of orchids. |
