Description of the genus

Annual. Inflorescence a delicate panicle. Spikelets 3-5-flowered, laterally flattened. Glumes membranous, as long as the spikelet, 1-nerved, acuminate. Floret callus square. Lemmas 3-nerved, shortly 2-lobed at the apex, with a filiform awn from the sinus.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical Africa

Zimbabwe: 1 taxon.
