Description: Evergreen climber to 6 m. Leaves elliptic, acuminate, glabrous. Corolla large, 15 cm in diameter, greenish-yellow to golden-yellow with 5 or 10 wine-red or purplish lines inside and 5 greenish ribs outside; the lobes sharply recurved.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: maxima: greatest, largest, presumably referring to the size of the plant or its flowers.
