Synonyms:	Hypoestes sanguinolenta auct.
Common names:	Polka-dot plant (English)
Description:	Shrubby perennial herb. Leaves variously spotted pink. Flowers axillary, deep pink, attractive but inconspicuous among the colourful foliage.
Notes:	A garden plant, occasionally escaping into semi-wild areas but usually not far from gardens.
Derivation of specific name:	phyllostachya: leafy spike (i.e. a leafy inflorescence).
Flowering time:	Dec-May
Worldwide distribution:	Native of Madagascar.
