Description of the genus

Herbs, prostrate, rooting at nodes. Stipules free of somewhat adnate to petiole. Leaves digitately trifoliate, leaflets obcordate, margins entire or shallowly lobed; petioles long. Inflorescence umbellate, 2-4-flowered, or flowers sometimes solitary, axillary; bracts stipule-like. Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed; petals blue or purplish, glabrous, deciduous. Fruit linear-oblong, acute, somewhat compressed. Seeds may reniform, hilum lateral.

Worldwide: 2 species 1 in tropical Asia and 1 in tropical Africa.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
