Description of the genus

Shrub with straggling branches up to 1 m. long. Leaves mostly alternate, ovate, sometimes hastate, paler underneath. Flowers in terminal, much-branched, mealy inflorescences. Perianth lobes 5. Fruit a 1-seeded berry.

Worldwide: 11 species native to Australia.

Zimbabwe: 1 cultivated taxon.
