Description of the genus

Climbers or creepers. Leaves 2-foliolate with (in ours) a terminal 3-fid, claw-like tendril. Leaflets entire. Inflorescences axillary, often reduced to 1(-3) flowers. Calyx cup-shaped. Corolla yellow. Capsule linear, elongate, flattened. Seeds winged.

Worldwide: 3-4 species in tropical America

Zimbabwe: 2 cultivated taxa.
