Description of the genus

Tree. Leaves 1-pinnate (imparipinnate); leaflets entire. Inflorescence a panicle, composed of racemes arranged in a raceme. Calyx a shallow cup. Petals and stamens 5. Styles 2.

Worldwide: 150 species in the tropics of the Old World, especially in New Caledonia

Zimbabwe: 2 cultivated taxa.
