Description: Tree to 15 m. Leaves: petiole 4-10 cm, with a conspicuous gland near the base; leaflets with 15-30 pairs per pinna, 6-20 × 2-5 mm, oblong-cultriform. Inflorescence a terminal panicle. Flower heads spherical. Filaments rose-pink above, whitish below. Pods 13-16 × 2-3 cm, flat, with conspicuous venation.
Notes: Recorded as cultivated in Wood (1986) and Biegel (1977).
Derivation of specific name: julibrissin: from the Persian word gul-ebruschin meaning floss silk in reference to the flowers.

Worldwide distribution: E. Transcaucasus to Japan.
